Kandl Tips to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

Recycling candle jars is a great way to give them new life. After your candle has burned down, you can clean out the jar and reuse it for various purposes. Some ideas include using as vases for flowers and organizing make up and styling brushes. By recycling candle jars, you can reduce waste and get creative with repurposing them in your home.

Where to start: Remove the wax

Freezing Method
Pop the candle jar in the freezer for a bit. This will shrink the leftover wax to help you pry it out easier.

Boiling Water Method
You can pour hot water into the jar. After the wax melts, let it cool and harden over the water. Then you can easily remove the wax. Just watch out for any hot surprises!

Scrape Remaining Residue
Use a paper towel or a soft cloth to wipe away any remaining wax residue. You can also use a plastic scraper to remove stubborn bits.

Wash With Warm Soapy Water
Clean the jar with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining wax or residue and then with a soft sponge or cloth to scrub the inside and outside of the jar.

Baking Soda Scrub
For stubborn residue, make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the residue, let it sit for a while and scrub with a soft brush or cloth.

Air Dry
Allow the jar to air dry completely before reuse. Ensure that there is no moisture left inside the jar.
